My name is Michael Sioutis (Μιχαήλ Σιούτης in Greek) and, as of January 2023, I am a tenure-track Junior Professor of Hybrid Artificial Intelligence, affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Montpellier, and the Laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics of Montpellier. During my tenure track, I will be working together with the COCONUT team, and the rest of the lab, on the interplay between knowledge representation and machine learning, especially in the context of attaining spatiotemporally-informed AI frameworks.
Before returning to France, I was a Research Fellow (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in German) at the Faculty of Information Systems and Applied Computer Sciences of Otto-Friedrich-University Bamberg in Germany from 2020 to 2022, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Computer Science of Aalto University in Finland during 2019, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Science and Technology of Örebro University in Sweden from May 2017 to December 2018.
In February 2017 I successfully defended my PhD Thesis, titled Algorithmic Contributions to Qualitative Constraint-based Spatial and Temporal Reasoning, and became a Doctor of Artois University in Computer Science. During my doctoral research I was advised by Professors Jean-François Condotta, Bertrand Mazure, and Yakoub Salhi.
